After you have downloaded the app and launched it for the first time, add either your email address or phone number on file with the school, and you will be sent a special login code. Once the proper code is entered, access to the app is granted. No passwords to remember!
No. We make it easy to access the portal simply by matching the email address or phone number associated with your student on file at the school. We'll then send you a 6-digit code (either by email or text, based on how you are authenticating) to be entered tom complete the authentication process.
Your information is held in the schools Student Information System (SIS), and the app and portal can reference that information securely.
Launch the app, click the gear icon located at top-left. On this screen, you will see your name, along with your student(s) and the contact info we have on file. Next to each phone number or email address, you are able to specify what type of notifications you get for each.
From the mobile app or desktop version, click the settings button to access your preferences. From this screen, you are able to switch on or off your messaging, choose whether you prefer voice or text, and update/change your phone number or email address.
The first time you launch the app, we take your through a data verification process that allows you to review and confirm the data we have on file is accurate. You can tell us if any of your contact information is wrong as well as confirm your students, and even tell us if one of your students is missing. You can also contact the school directly to correct anything. The app will then see the updated information made at the school.
The app consolidates information significantly from the website. It allows the school to push important communications, and direct you to frequently-accesses quick links and other timely information.
General messages are used for announcements, reminders, and links to important events and information. Urgent messages are used for critical alerts and updates (including voice calls and push notifications). Overuse of urgent messaging could result in parents overlooking important information. In your user preferences, you have the option to opt out of text, email, or mobile communication. Please note however, that urgent communications (such as a fire, lockdown or another school emergency) may be sent regardless of your settings.
Yes. Keep in mind that if an email address or phone number is not already in the schools system, you cannot access the app or portal. The school either needs to add you first... or, a family member who already has access can add your information in their account. Those communication preferences can be adjusted independently. SchoolNow is FERPA (Family Educational Rights Privacy Act) certified to comply with family privacy laws.
By default, you are only sent or shown the communications and information associated with the district and schools your student(s) attend. SchoolNow will recognize your children and their appropriate schools.
